Wednesday 14th June
Hunts Pond Road
The Vikings took their second successive victory and first league victory over the Hurricanes with a 26-9 in a hot evening game.
Two walks and a homer led the Hurricanes to a 3-0 start in the top of the first, but the bats had clearly had time to warm up in the sun as 7 runs came across from the Vikings in response.
Runs were harder to come by for both teams for the next few innings as a 7-3 score line became 9-5 after 3 innings. First Baseman Owen Maynard hitting a one-run homer in the bottom of the third to blow to horn for the first time of the game.
A Hurricanes rally in the fourth brought them back to 9-8, pushing three runs over. A couple of two-run homers from CF Doug Sutherland and SS Stefan Rudeforth (who finished with 7RBIs and three-quarters of the cycle - missing triple) restored a cushion.
Some superb defence over the rest of the game limited the Hurricanes to only one more run, as the Vikings bats and aggressive base running doubled their tally.
Next up is another home game hosting the Portsmouth Pirates on Sunday 25th June.
